I am a Professor and Chair of Molecular and Cellular Physiology.
Reena did her PhD in Germany and then moved to post-doc with Richard Harvey at the Victor Chang Institute in Sydney. She brings her expertise in developmental biology to work on a project aimed at better differentiating human induced pluripotent stem cells into insulin secreting cells.
Sunny is working as a research technician. She is supporting the work of the type 1 diabetes consortium and working to optimise the environmental conditions required to enhance insulin secretion from adult human beta cells.
Louise did her undergraduate degree at the UNSW and then a PhD at the Garvan Institute in Sydney. Her project is aimed at understanding the influence of the apical domain of pancreatic beta cells on the control of insulin secretion and glucose homeostasis. She uses confocal microscopy and pancreatic slices. A part of her project is to work on human tissue obtained from the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney.
Claire is studying towards her PhD. Claire’s project focuses on the role of focal adhesion kinase in the control of insulin secretion.
Dillon started his PhD in the lab at the end of last year. He has made great progress in understanding an unusual characteristic of beta cells where they appear to have multidimensional polarity.
