Cutting-edge Technology

We use the latest techniques in biomedical sciences. A recent advance is the use of STED super-resolution microscopy. This enables us to visualise the machinery that is regulating the final steps of insulin secretion. We are now building up a picture of how this machinery is working to control insulin secretion.

Another advance is the use of CRISPR-Cas9 methods to edit the genome. We are using these in cells lines and plan to extend their use to engineer induced pluripotent stem cells.
